Clinical Overview
Jaundice is a condition where the skin and eyes turn yellow due to high levels of bilirubin. It is often a sign of underlying liver issues or infections like Hepatitis A, B, or C.
Key Symptoms
Yellowing of skin and the whites of eyes, dark-colored urine, pale stools, itchy skin, and fatigue. Fever and abdominal pain may be present in viral hepatitis cases.
Treatment Options
Treatment depends on the cause. Viral hepatitis may require rest and antiviral medications. Obstruction-related jaundice might require endoscopic procedures (ERCP) to clear bile ducts.
Prevention & Lifestyle
Get vaccinated for Hepatitis A and B, practice safe hygiene, ensure the consumption of clean drinking water, and avoid excessive alcohol consumption to protect liver function.
