Clinical Overview
Dengue is a viral infection transmitted to humans through the bite of infected mosquitoes, particularly Aedes aegypti. In West Bengal, it is a significant seasonal health concern.
Key Symptoms
High fever (40°C/104°F), severe headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pains, nausea, vomiting, swollen glands, and rash.
Treatment Options
There is no specific treatment. Focus is on managing pain symptoms and preventing dehydration. Avoid NSAIDs like Aspirin/Ibuprofen; use Paracetamol only. Seek immediate care for severe dengue symptoms like persistent vomiting or bleeding gums.
Prevention & Lifestyle
Eliminate stagnant water around homes, use mosquito nets (even during the day), wear protective clothing, and use mosquito repellents regularly.
